BREAKOUT is a 3-year series with 3 books: Break In, Break Through and Break Away along with an additional evangelism program for 5th Graders at the end called Dare To Be a Daniel. Kids must work through each of the books to graduate to the next level. The only exception is for beginning 4th and 5th graders who can choose to take a special, but short, written test that will allow them to move to the second book, Break Through, if they pass. 5th Graders who complete all their work throughout the year as well as a minimum number of service projects get to join in a fun Mission Project next Summer called Summer Splash 2010.
Parent Component: Parents are required to review over homework each week with their child in order for the child to get credit for completing the assignment. It is vital that Parents regularly spend time in spiritual discussions with their kids! This is what makes it truly stick!

This first book in the series for first-year 3rd, 4th and 5th graders concentrates on the fundamentals of Jesus Christ and Christianity including Salvation, Baptism, Communion and Faith. It is vital that kids understand these principal concepts before moving up to the other books. Only 4th and 5th graders can test out of this book in their first year.

The second book in the series teaches 4th and 5th graders how to grow in their relationship with Christ. This includes prayer and Bible study. A heavy emphasis is placed on how to study the Bible and Bible Apologetics (why we can trust the Bible as the TRUE Word of God).

The third book in the series will teach 5th graders about their SHAPE (Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Ability, Personality, and Experience) so they can begin on their first adventures in serving Christ. The kids and leaders will complete various service projects for Faith as they learn to be lifetime servants for Him.
DARE TO BE A DANIEL (5TH GRADERS)
During their third year of Break Out, 5th Graders get the opportunity to become Team D2BD (Dare to Be a Daniel) members. Dare to Be a Daniel is an awesome high-tech online training course from the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Filled with tons of great videos and articles from Christian artists and athletes, tweens and early teens (9 to 14 year olds) are taken through a course where they learn to effectively share their faith in Jesus Christ with the lost world around them. The site is monitored and safe for kids. For lots more details, go to Dare to Be a Daniel for a Parent Tour.
5th Graders who complete their work and participate successfully in a minimum number of service projects throughout the year get to be a part of the Summer Splash Team the following Summer. The Summer Splash Team will stay at the homes of leaders and parents for 2-3 days, conduct fun missions projects throughout neighborhoods and towns in the area including block parties, get the opportunity to share their faith, share in devotions, play a lot, swim a lot, and eat a lot! It's a blast and a great motivator for the kids throughout the year! Families are also encouraged to participate. Note, however, that we are very strict about meeting the requirements to be on Team Summer Splash. The kids must do their work throughout the year to qualify.
