Counseling

Need Counseling ?

We understand that there are times in life where you just need a helping hand. In fact, many people are doing very well in some parts of their life while struggling in others. Now might be the time when you need someone to come alongside and encourage you from the Bible. Biblical Counseling seeks to carefully discover areas in which a Christian may be unaware of, or disobedient to, the commands of Scripture and to help him/her learn how to lovingly submit to God’s will.

Is there any hope for this to work?

We believe that God has given us all we need to know Him and to live in a way that is pleasing to Him. All our difficulties may not evaporate. However, when a person willingly submits to God's instructions and clings to His promises there is hope and help. The hope and help does not come from the study of man. It comes from the healing truths of God’s Word. Our ministry's focus is rooted in the firm understanding of  2 Timothy 3:16: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

Who Can Make An Appointment?

First priority will be given to members of Faith Baptist Church who desire biblical counseling.  Second priority will be given to people who are regular attendees of Faith.  Finally as openings are available people from churches other than Faith Baptist will be considered.

What Is Expected Of The Counselee?

The counselee must demonstrate a willingness to:

  • Sign the Consent to Biblical Counseling form provided in your initial session.
  • Agree to place yourself under the authority of the Elders of Faith Baptist Church.
  • Regularly attend Sunday services at Faith Baptist.
  • Complete any assigned homework prior to the counseling appointment (Assignments may include reading materials, listening cassettes, worksheets, and Scripture memory/ meditation).  The counselor reserves the right to discontinue any counseling if the counselee refuses to complete homework assignments.
  • Arrive on time for each appointment and call ahead to reschedule when necessary.  (919) 556-3420, ext. 150.
  • Also, as a safe-guard, it is our desire that the pastor and other male counselors not meet alone with women for counseling.  For this reason, female counselees who make an appointment with our pastors or other male counselors must be accompanied by one other person willing to sit in during the counseling sessions (a spouse, parent, friend, etc.)
