Where We Came From
Faith was born out of a passion to make Christ known. We wanted everyone to know the adequacy of Jesus Christ for all of life’s needs. Our vision was to produce followers of Christ who would understand the cross of Christ for salvation, the resurrection of Christ for life and take the truth of Christ into every sphere of influence. We wanted to be a place where everyone could find family. We wanted to be a people who would use whatever means necessary to reach anyone and everyone for Christ.
We had absolutely no money and no place to meet, but we had a handful of people who were eager to launch out with this unique expression of Christ. It would take a miracle to realize the dream we had of building a church full of people who would join us on mission. God was so faithful in opening doors and providing people who thought it was worth whatever sacrifices were necessary for this dream to become reality.
At first, Faith met all over town. We were a great place to be - if you could find us. We would load up pickup trucks every Sunday morning from a storage unit and set up church any place we could find. We met in weight rooms, music rooms, bathrooms, and auditoriums that did not have air conditioning. None of those things seemed to faze anyone because we felt so called of God and were so thankful to have the opportunity to be on mission for Christ.
One morning I was reading Psalm 18 and the Lord impressed upon my heart that there was a large open space He would provide for a permanent church building. In 1998, that land (a huge open pasture) was provided for us through a partial land donation and great financial sacrifice on the part of Faith’s members. We quickly outgrew our facilities and, each time, we would seek God’s face in prayer. The continued growth produced what seems to be impossible challenges: From a local business man wanting to see a church in our area, to a family that saw an overwhelming number of children at an Easter egg hunt and wanting to be involved in what God was doing. Over and over again, He faithfully provided for our needs. God has continued to bless Faith Baptist Church because our passion remains to raise up believers who will engage the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Where We Are Going
Faith’s mission is to produce followers of Jesus who can then produce more followers of Jesus. We seek to accomplish our mission by helping people connect to the church, grow in God’s Word, and engage the world for Christ. We want to be a church that is seen in the community and around the world doing what Jesus would do in deed and word.
We believe in connecting to the church as a means to unity, encouragement and accountability. We believe in growing in God’s Word in order to be spiritually healthy, live a life of worship and know the heart of God. We believe in engaging the world so that we might serve those who need Jesus, and share His love and truth in a way all people can understand.
Maturity is not measured by how much we know, but by how much we go. Worship and training in Biblical instruction should motivate and equip us to engage the world - our mission field. That is where we will continue to find those who need Jesus and those who most need to see a demonstration of His love. We believe that instruction in and application of Biblical truth is essential. Everything we do flows from our understanding of who Jesus is, and what He has done, and what He wants to do to bring more people into a right relationship with God.
We are committed to doing whatever is necessary and right to expand the influence of Jesus in the world. Thus, we are committed not only to growing our church, but also to starting other churches here and around the world. We want to produce mature followers of Jesus who are taking the light of Jesus into every sphere of influence. We truly want to be a church who engaged the world for Christ!
